Played by Alec Baldwin in “The Hunt For Red October,” Harrison Ford in “Patriot Games” and “Clear and Present Danger,” Ben Affleck in “The Sum of All Fears” and Chris Pine in “Shadow Recruit,” CIA analyst Jack Ryan will now be embodied by sitcom vet John Krasinski in Amazon’s “Jack Ryan” series.
A pair of former “Lost” writers – Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland – are scripting. Once “Ryan” is formally greenlit, Cuse will have four series in production, including FX’s “The Strain,” A&E’s “Bates Motel” and USA’s “Colony.”
Since wrapping his role as Pam Beesley’s romantic interest and Dwight Schrute’s archenemy on “The Office” three years ago, Krasinski took on a supporting role in last year’s Cameron Crowe romantic dramedy “Aloha” and the lead in this year’s “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.”
