Fede Alvarez to tackle MONSTERPOCALYPSE!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So I've only begun dipping my toe into tabeltop fun stuffs. I've got a regular Risk Legacy game going and have been lucky enough to win a few rounds of Munchkin with my nerdier friends, but one I haven't tried yet is Monsterpocalypse. I've heard good things, but only know the basic set up.

It's essentially Rampage and Pacific Rim, but on your tabletop. Giant monsters attack a city and there's a giant robot or two in there for good measure. According to THR game producer Privateer Press has put a film rights package together with Fede Alvarez attached to direct an adaptation he co-wrote with his partner in crime Rodo Sayagues and the studios (namely Warner Bros, Sony and Dreamworks) are falling over themselves to get the rights.

New Line has a Rampage movie in the works with Dwayne Johnson attached. I wonder if WB is in this bidding war in order to stop this movie from cockblocking their proposed giant monster action flick.

All I know is Fede and Rodo's latest flick, Don't Breathe, is a great home invasion thriller and no matter what you think of the Evil Dead reboot it's impossible to deny that Alvarez has a hell of an eye. I think he could make an awesome flick with a giant pool of resources around him.

Thoughts?
