Jon Bernthal will reprise the role of angry war vet Frank “The Punisher” Castle, the persona he originally took on during the second season of “Daredevil.”
Does this mean Castle will be joining Matt Murdock, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand for Netflix/Marvel’s “The Defenders” team-up miniseries? I’d guess yes!
Writer-producer Steve Lightfoot ("Hannibal") will serve as showrunner. No word on how many episodes have been ordered, though “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist” all get 13 episodes per season. Launch date is to be determined.
Bernthal’s version of Castle exists in the same onscreen universe as Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson, Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill, Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter and Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne.
