No channel is yet attached, but Deadline reports a pilot script is written and a writer’s room is being assembled for “Omerta,” an Italian mob series based on the last novel by “Godfather” author/screenwriter Mario Puzo.
Sylvester Stallone is set to play mob boss Raymonde Aprile.
Antoine Fuqua (“Olympus Has Fallen,” “The Equalizer,” “Southpaw”) is set to direct the pilot from a teleplay by two people named Justin Herber and Adam Hoff. The writers will apparently not serve as showrunners should the pilot go to series.
Stallone flirted for some time with reprising his big-screen role of John Rambo for a TV series version that would focus on Rambo’s ultra-macho son, but Stallone decided not to go forward with that one.
He's also said to be developing a TV version of his big-screen franchise "The Expendables."
The actor was recently Oscar-nominated for reprising the role of Rocky Balboa for 2015’s “Creed.”
