Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with a quick clip from Daniel Zirilli's CROSSING POINT, a film staring Rudy Youngblood (APOCALYPTO), Luke Goss (HELL BOY II), Tom Sizemore (HEAT), and relative newcomer Shawn Lock. The story takes place on the Mexico/American border and features an incredibly rich aesthetic that feels authentically Mexican, a slice of Tijuana life sprinkled throughout this rather (not-so) far-fetched film from Zirilli. While I'm more of a horror film/dinosaurs running rampant on an island theme park kind of guy, this film felt like a splash of cold water - an interesting change of pace that utilized locations I'd previously only seen in a certain light. The film features the beauty and wildly rich culture of Baja and juxtaposes it with the ugliness of the drug trade. The film's dingy, dirty, and has that "ticking time bomb" scenario that pushes 75% of the plots out there - it's not what you'd expect going in and I found it interesting myself. (To spell that out: I don't typically seek films like this out, but enjoyed it nonetheless.) Zirilli goes above and beyond just plastering a stereotype in his Tijuana set film with Mexican characters playing all sorts of individuals, from heroes to villains. If you're even remotely interested in watching the film, it comes out May 3rd on iTunes and VOD, and a limited release in theaters on May 6th.
