Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. There are a few universal truths when it comes to movies. There's no better cowboy than John Wayne, Dick Miller makes every movie he's in better by a full star rating and Roland Emmerich movies always make for great trailers.
If you need proof of that last one, I present to you the epic global war on display in the latest Independence Day 2: Resurgence trailer!
With all the CG spectacle showcased in that trailer, the thing that actually gets me really excited to sit my ass in that theater seat this coming June is seeing Jeff Goldblum front and center again. His smart ass charm is still going strong all these years later!
Sure, it looks silly, but embracing its silliness is one of the charms of the last film, so I don't really care that the aliens seem to return on the 20th anniversary of the first invasion as if their calendars would work like ours (I somehow doubt their calendars are determined by the Earth's rotation around the sun) or that something with its own gravitational pull entering our atmosphere would probably destroy us without a shot being fired, but I'll leave all that for Copernicus' surely highly entertaining Science of ID4-2 article.
Right now all I care about is seeing Jeff Goldblum snark his way through the movie. What about you?
