The DE PALMA documentary gets a trailer that will remind you of his genius!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Like most cinephiles I'm a big, big Brian De Palma fan. His big movies like The Untouchables and Carrie were my entry into his work, of course, but as I went movie by movie through his filmography I found that those admittedly amazing films weren't even close to my favorites. Phantom of the Paradise and Blow Out both fight for my favorite De Palma film and for completely different reasons.

Phantom is so catchy and rewatchable that I'll find if I have it in the Blu-Ray player it'll spin at least three times before I take it out again. Blow Out is a movie that cuts to my core. It guts me each time I watch it and I find myself mesmerized by the world collapsing around John Travolta and Nancy Allen's characters.

But that's De Palma. He has a unique style that is instantly recongnizable, but he's not making the same movie over and over again.

The trailer for the big doc on the man, called DE PALMA naturally, just hit and will remind you why he's one of the best out there. I'll forgive them the blunder of listing Phantom of the Paradise as "Phantom of Paradise" and assume they ran out of space for the "the."

This is right up my alley, for sure. I wonder if the movie will just play like a long interview with the man or if we'll get other perspectives of his work and career as well. Guess we'll see!

What do you folks think?
