Elizabeth Banks has never played a villain before, and she sure looks green as Rita Repulsa!

I don’t remember any green on Rita, but Banks is looking hotter (and leatherier) than the old Ms. Repulsa ever did as the original POWER RANGERS baddie.

It’s worth mentioning that Banks’ costume, which premiered at People, is more interesting and professional looking than possibly every villain getup from both the original series and the two theatrically released POWER RANGERS films (this Repulsa > Divatox already). I'm sort of bummed that they didn't keep Rita's ridiculous, psuedo-medieval-looking headdress, but I'm holding out hope that Rita will swap them in during one of her (hopefully numerous) costume changes. Banks was working, like a champ, as over-the-top of costumes as any in recent memory in THE HUNGER GAMES, and methinks she’s going to go even bigger (and most certainly badder) as Repulsa than she did in those films...at least I hope so.

Ms. Banks has entered her power player stage, where she can take showy gigs like this and have a blast camping it up in between directing and producing her own stuff, and I hope that newfound sense of power makes her go full Faye Dunaway/Joan Crawford as the Rangers’ most famous adversary.

What you Angel Grovers think of Banks-Repulsa?

MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS go go for that YA dollar on March 24th, 2017.
