MUMMY RETURNS trailer in high quality!!!!
Hey folks, Harry here... I walked into the first MUMMY film of Sommers' and wanted to see a serious action adventure horror film... and instead got a tongue in cheek goofy horror adventure film... and wrote a review that slammed it for what it wasn't. That wasn't really fair to the film or the filmmakers. I still want a serious action adventure HORROR film... I'm still waiting.... but ya know... After DEEP RISING... I don't know what I was thinking. That film was one of the sheerest cheesy fun B-horror flicks to hit a screen in a while.... Treat Williams was wonderfully over the top... and I liked that one quite a bit. Well, as we saw from that really crappy quality ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT streaming MUMMY RETURNS trailer.... This film is not even making a pretense at being A SERIOUS HORROR FILM, instead it is another goofy horror adventure.... And ya know what.... THAT'S FINE. I know that now and I look forward to seeing it.... That CG Anubis is damn near one of the coolest images I've seen moving around.... and in the very best Harryhausen ... take iconic images from the past group subconcious and bring em to life... style.... I am dying to see it all come together. Now... If you want to see this new trailer... Here ya go... !!
MUMMY RETURNS badass trailer!!!

What's the obsession with being first? Anyway, I could download the trailer to my destop just fine. I don't know what's wrong with anyone elses, but I got it...

Are you using Mac or PC? If PC, use a download client like GetRight to save to disk -- it works.
And for movies that will only open in a browser, use I.E. and then copy the mopvie from the Temp Internet Files directory. It works fine for me. -
The only thing I despised about the first Mummy film was all the people comparing it with Indianna Jones films - not even in the same leage / genre / class. If you must compare with something how about Fright Night. Tongue in cheek comedy horror.
-
View the movie, then go into Windows/Temporary Internet Files and copy the sucker out. Happy hunting. :)
-
Is it me, or does this look like it has a serious martial arts element to it? Is that REALLY the best place to take this series? The first one was pretty traditional and still pretty good.
-
Just right click on link.....Save target as......That's what I do at least, and it works for me
-
It's really easy to do it with a Mac.... Click and hold the link, select "Save Link As", select "source" and... woo-hoo! I just did it....
-
I thought the first movie was a bunch of cow dung! Why on earth would I see a sequel to it?
-
I thought by now it was a tradition to somehow link each story to Final Fantasy and then proceed yet again to trash it with arrogant and baseless comments... Frankly I'm dissapointed. I really wanted to hear how the Mummy's CG had better facial expression, and how animators should not venture into rendering realistic humans, because you said so, and with your art degree so wisely informed us of why it shall not be done, and why it does not look good. Oh wait, I just saw a pic of behind the scenes of Matrix 2... got to go write my full review.

Hey Harry, get yourself ACDSEE SOFTWARE and use this software to view your quicktime. Look under temporary internet folder and the quicktime mov should be under some of the sub folders somewhere. make sure VIEW is check to DETAILS. Goodluck!
-
SORRY, BUT FORGOT ONE MORE THING. YOU MUST VIEW OR PLAY THE QUICKTIME FIRST AND IT'S SAVE TO YOUR TEMPORARY INTERNET FOLDER(UNDER SUB FOLDERS) AND THEN OPEN UP ACDSEE AND LOOK FOR THAT MOV FILE AND COPY THAT MOV FILE TO ANOTHER FOLDER THEN PLAY IT! IT ALWAYS WORK FOR ME.

harry, just use one download client, i'm using the getright one... amazing.. it's easy to get the links from the small ones.. the fullscreen ones are harder... but this is the link for the fullscreen one.. *;) 34mb file.. amazing..

just get the link for the other and change the filename.. it's easy.. o go to this website: http://www.movie-list.com/
they always have the links to download with your download client.. or 'save as...' in the browsers... -
Harry and the rest of you having trouble saving off files to your local drives - here's the best solution I've come across so far:
http://www.downloadaccelerator.com
Not only does this little program make your web downloads mega quick (by opening up to 7 ports and combining the data streams) - it also has the convenient side effect of DIRECTLY connecting to Quicktime movies that have been set up on those pesky Apple akamai servers.
When you run it, it'll give you the option of regular or accelerated downloading, and the accelerated option will automatically save the .mov straight to your specified local directory. If you come across the more "secure" movies with the annoying "Click Here to Play" load up screens, just select the regular download option first to get past the click here and select the accelerated option to download the goods.
Just thought I'd share it with ya. :)
And by the way, this is my first time posting here but just wanted to say, Harry you always kick ass in getting us the lowdown on the latest goods!!

i tried all the save methods but no workie for me, sound is not there or it freezes, any ideas?
and I also think it could be a fun movie, first one suprised me and entertained me on a warm summer night............... -
Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this movie. Accept it for what it is and you'll have a good time. Personally, I'd much rather see the suits create a character like O'Connor who is a blatant rip off of Indiana Jones and Doc Savage than watch them theatrical annihilate the real thing. Though I still think that Fraser would make a great Doc. In any event, Im-ho-tep! Im-ho-tep! Im-ho-tep!

Why In The Hell Does It Take So Long To Download This Trailer?
by the founder
Can someone please tell me why it takes so long to download a fucking trailer.I swear it took about 2 hours for me to get the whole thing and I have a new computer with 900MHz,128mb,60.0gb,32mb,dvd, and cd-rw by HP.Can someone explain this to me please?
I thought the trailer was great and I hope the sequel entertain's me as well as the first Mummy did.
I just don't see why so many people that post here hated this movie? what did you guys expect?...it had Branden Fraiser in it...a actor known for comic type roles.I don't recall ever seeing Fraiser in an serious role at all, well School Ties(i think that was the name of it)but I didn't see it,and one of my friends told me he was in a movie with Ian Mckellen not to long ago that was serious as well...didn't see that as well.I'll seeing the Mummy when it comes out. -
I'm appalled it took THE ROCK being in the movie for some of you ppl to finally see it for what it really is. Jeez. Well, suits, I'm definitely there come May 2001. The first one was pretty damn entertaining and I wouldn't miss this sequel for anything, especially since John Hannah and Oded Fehr are back. To the previous talkbacker, that serious movie with Ian McKellen was GODS AND MONSTERS, and Fraser was actually very good. Webmaster, please fix the TBs. PLEASE. Lastly... For the love of god, let Imhotep win in this movie! Just don't kill off John Hannah because the gods will be angered.... And is that "SMURF PORN" I see in the latest Cartuna animation?? Harry, I sure hope those are not your 4-fingered hands. You already scared me enough with your Scooby Doo rant. Imhotep for President, says I.
-
Don't worry about downloading it people - it looks like shite. You can only stretch the "so cheesy its good" argument so far...I agree with Harry's initial feelings. It takes no talent to come up with garbage like this. Theres a difference between acknowledging Indiana Jones and just ripping it off completely. I think everybody's so keen for another Indy film that they're prepared to accept any old shit. Watch Temple of Doom instead.
-
Of course I'm just talking about a Mummy-movie level of goodness. God knows I don't mean Fight Club good! Not at all... (this movie features The Rock, right?) And I'm not easily pleased! You will not buy me with a lollipop, sir! Ask anybody, LotR fans are very picky... apparently only when it comes to LotR, though. PJ better have Sean Astin addressing Elijah Wood as MISTER. A lawn gnome for president, then.
-
The CG'ed Anubis warriors are breathtaking! The Rock looks cool! If they keep his worthless mouth shut, and don't eclipse Arnold Vosloo with him, we're in business! (C'mon, Arnold's paid his dues over the years -- he deserves center stage, not that overgrown doofus in the tights...)

Horror it ain't, but otherwise it was surprisingly well done. Fat glory-hound British fighter pilot..snivelling weasel friend.. the characters were entertaining and the plot was pretty good. If there's more of the same in the sequel, I'm sittin' pretty.

You know after Charlies Angels I'm tired of these fun, check your brain at the door flicks! I want meat and potatoes! 2000 has been one TERRIBLE movie year... How many times are moviegoers going to be asked to check our brains at the door and "just enjoy" a REALLY BAD PIECE OF GARBAGE movie!!(case in point: Mission Impossible 2, Charlie's Angels) After 1999 I thought hollywood was finally beginning to wake up....we actually had 9 truly great films last year (Fight Club, Three Kings, Magnolia, The Matrix, American Beauty, The Phantom Menace, Being John Malcovich, Toy Story 2, The Sixth Sense)...This year we've only had 3 (Gladiator, Bamboozled, and GHOST DOG...I'm mad! I want the next TAXI DRIVER, I want to think! I want to be challenged! ok, end of rant...
-
Wow, this certainly is turning out to be the year of female kick ass fighting what with _Charlies Angels_ (fun stuff wot), soon _Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon_ and now _The Mummy Returns_? But tell me this, Talkbackers, didn't it seem slightly incongruous to see those two going at it? I mean, I like seeing it, but it seemed like the filmmakers thought: "hmmm this is the year of kick ass females. Let's have a catfight somewhere in the movie". Oh well, the more the merrier.

Please! Supply a Windows Media Player as well as Quicktime!
by themightyra
Gosh. I'm tired of missing cool trailers because I ain't got Quicktime. Sorry, I'm poor, no, I can't go out and get me Quicktime! That's all I gots to say then.

The film looks set to be another entertaining-as-hell summer flick, just like the first one was. Stephen Sommers certainly knows how to make 'em, DEEP RISING was sheer entertainment, I don't remember when I had as much fun with a movie...I'll still see it even if Rachel Weisz DOESN'T get her kit off...but I'm still hoping big time that she does...HOW SEXY does she look doing all that dagger fighting near the end of the trailer, please? Hmmm...
-
I swear, people love to bitch about there not being any good movies out there. To Mosdef, there were more than three good movies out this year, your lazy ass just didn't want to go looking for them. What about the Virgin Suicides, Boiler Room, Final Destination, X-Men, all movies that were exceptional, not to mention some of them breaking from their respective genres; Final Destination for not treating us to the same recycled crap from the Scream films(that were never scary to me), and X-Men, for daring to be somewhat of an intelligent comic book movie on the level of the first Batman and maybe even Superman. Not to mention Titan AE, which only failed because it wasn't a your average Disney fair, and that's more than enough reason to love it. It doesn't insult your intelligence(although pulling a planet outta thin air takes a high suspension of disbelief), or numb your brain with happy song after happy song. It dared to show the public that cartoons can be geared to older crowds while still having something for kids and adults. Gladiator was an overly-hyped summer movie(don't get me wrong it was great), Bamboozled is a Spike Lee flick, and Ghost Dog was the indie film to see if you only see one. Yes, these are all good movies, but make the assumption that these were the only good ones to come out is insulting. Sorry to burst your bubble, but as business is concered, you're doing things to make money, and if a certain product isn't profitable, it's not gonna get pushed. Yeah, it's a harsh truth, but some o' y'all have to accept that. Bitching about is no good, because A) your opinion won't matter to the people making these films, and B) there is a film industry outside of Hollywood, if you just looked, instead of waiting for a high-profile film that's heads and shoulders above what you would deem crap. The idea that entertainment has an obligation to enlightening or inspiring people in everything it does is really sickening. Not to say that a movie or a song can't do those things, but when people bitch about it when it doesn't, it's rather pointless and whiny. I could bitch about the rappers who are made famous and have no talent, or a can look for that Pete Rock, that Rah Digga, or that MOS DEF CD to satisfy me. And if a vast majority of people like it, who are you to argue. At the end of the day, I have a lot on my mind. Things that are trivial, to things that can have a profound affect on my life. The last thing I'm thinking about about when I walk into a movie theater is, what deep social or domestic message am I gonna get out of it. I just want to be entertained! I WANT TO LEAVE ME BRAIN AT THE DOOR on occasion, because I know I don't need anything more on my plate. I loved the first Mummy for being a fun, sometimes even dramatic action film. It didn't need to be complex or thought provoking, just fun. The sequel looks to be more in that vein. And I'm all for this CG revolution(we do need to keep tabs on it of course), if the technology is there, why rely on old methods. I'm sure someone will argue the fact that the people back then relied on ingenuity and what not to get those effects across. Face the fact that the people who do CGI for these movies train intensively and it's a lot more work than you think. It may not be model ships in from of a blue screen, but the same amount of work, if not more goes into it.
-
Rachel Weisz starts kicking ass? I am SO there. Granted, even her with her clothes off couldn't save STEALING BEAUTY, but I'm going to assume that was some kind of cinematic anomaly.
-
Harry called that CG Anubis cool, and it is, but that's the problem; we all know it's CG. CG doesn't fool anyone. When are we going to start getting special effects that actually look real, that actually convince us something impossible was happening in the studio, that seem to have physical reality? CG looks like someone took images from Duke Nukem 3D and pasted them onto the screen. No matter how pretty they look, they are unbelievable (except in a few very rare cases). That was the problem all the way through Ep1. Jar Jar Binks didn't seem to be a solid creature, just some sort of detailed, painstakingly rendered ghost. Same with Star Wars. Stupid special edition made Jabba into a cartoon. Hello.
-
I loved the first Mummy,it was an enjoyable romp. It's kind of ironic , then that the one thing I don't like about this film is the mummy its self. That crappy cgi ,used when Imhotep is walking around in rotted form.it was just so fake and cartoony. He looked like super mummy!.{That said , the priest and warrior mummies at the end looked pretty good}.I think its not so much the CGI thats the problem , its the design aspects. The Imhotep mummy with its bug eyes{No scarab beetle pun intended!} twisted jaw , and muscular body..with holes punched thru , just didn't look like mummified human remains.Actor Arnold Vosloo , was slightly paunchy in appearence, His mummy , looked like a 3 times world champian body builder, with holes drilled in him..Plus the animation suffered from , the o.t.t style that Jar jar binks displayed. At the moment either cgi ..or the animators , aren't subtle enough to get a realistic acting performence from these things. If he'd been a little thinner, I'd have much rather have seen Arnold Vosloo wearing a conventional, rotted make up /body suit. The scenes with his ropey animated mummy , were very simular to *Skinned* Franks scenes in HellRaiser..and that looked way more convincing.

Anyone who thinks "The Mummy" was a good movie should be banned from seeing films. It's people like them that have ruined filmmaking. The Indiana Jones films where fun, rollicking tongue-in-cheek adventures but they had heart, charm and panache. The Mummy had some good humor but that was about it. Even the effects sucked, It ranks along side of Spawn as one of the few times ILM really fucked up... Although it's more the directors fault, they probably showed the moron some early animatics and he said "woah that looks real". God I wish Universal would have never took the project out of Joe Dante's hands. He would have made an awesome flick instead of that smelly wet-fart of a movie. I still can't belive Brendan Fraiser had the balls to bash TPM. The day he makes a GOOD movie is the day he can run down other people's work.
-
If you take the Mummy for what it is you will find that it's a rising fun film that doesn't take its self to seriously. Sure it's comic book action but it delivers on being a perfect pop corn flick that has magic and mystery to it. The Mummy returns trailer got a rush out of me for promising to return fun and high adventuer to the movies. Sometimes I go to the movies for a deep personal drama or a stirring romance or a care free action/adventure. The Mummy falls in the later catagory. I'm glad Harry recanted on his previous review of the Mummy and it's good to see most of the original cast, including the cool and mysterious, Oded Fehr back. It's like returning to old friends you know and like. Knowing Stephen Sommers he always has something fun in store for the audience and that should be expected.

Did Woo-ping Yuen do the fight choreography on this one too?
by iamlegolas
Also....there is something to be said for a sequel that has the entire cast returning...is that a good or bad thing?

Several times too, apparently! Okay, there is no way I am missing this, I don't care if it becomes the next BATTLEFIELD EARTH. Just seeing Rachel going into "Mommy Tiger" mode will be priceless.
