Crispin Glover will play Mr. World, a key member of the New Gods determined to thwart key Old Gods operative Mr. Wednesday, played by Ian McShane.
Starz’ “American Gods,” adapted by writer-producer Bryan Fuller (“Dead Like Me,” “Wonderfalls” “Pushing Daisies,” “Hannibal” and CBS’ upcoming Star Trek series), is based on the Hugo-winning novel by Neil Gaiman.
I gather the old gods are the deities worshipped by the Egyptians, Vikings, Romans and so on. The new gods are drugs, money, media, tech and their ilk. (Allah and Jesus unaccountably do not appear in the novel.)
Also just cast is Jonathan Tucker (who played creepy gunslinger Boon in the final season of “Justified”) who will take on the role of Low Key Lyesmith. Tucker also played murderous orderly Matthew Brown in Fuller's "Hannibal" series on NBC.
