Mondo unleashes Richard Linklater posters!!!

Hey folks, Harry here...  I love Mondo Posters... they have so much affection for the subjects they give tribute to, and we...  those of us that love the ephemera of cinema... well we greatly appreciate it.   They're celebrating the work of home town directing hero, Richard Linklater and well...  have a look see:

I first met Richard Linklater as he was editing SLACKER - it was before I created AICN, I was set up at a City Wide Garage Sale selling movie posters and a very young Richard Linklater came in asking about Jerry Lewis movie paper and he bought a few items.  It was through Rick that I formed an appreciation for Jerry Lewis comedies!  SLACKER is in my opinion, the definitive AUSTIN movie.  It captures perfectly what Austin was before it became the scene it is today.  So many lost landmarks are preserved in the film - and so many friends captured all those years ago by Richard's lens.

When Rick was editing DAZED & CONFUSED - he visited FatherGeek and mine's booth again, this time he was focused upon a one-sheet I had of Preston Sturges' UNFAITHFULLY YOURS...  at the time, I had not seen the film and was unaware of Preston Sturges' magnificent film history.  He bought the poster, and that night I went to Vulcan Video here in town and rented 4 PRESTON STURGES' movies and regretted selling that poster instantly.  That said, had he not gotten it, I might never have come to the greater glory of Preston Sturges.

This next poster for DAZED & CONFUSED focuses upon the awesome MOON TOWERS we have here in Austin, which were created to make every night seem to have the glow of a full moon here in town!  I love that these Austin icons are featured.

I can imagine this poster being super beloved.

I love the Tryptich of Rick's magnificent Trilogy of Love and Wanderlust

WAKING LIFE is a companion for SLACKER - but it's like SLACKER once the acid kicks in...

I can't believe A SCANNER DARKLY was a decade ago now...

Feel the Bern...

And here's the trilogy complete and together...

Very interesting look for the BOYHOOD poster...

Here's Richard Linklater with some of his cast for EVERYBODY WANTS SOME at the Mondo Gallery here in Austin celebrating!!!

As I said in my review, EVERYBODY WANTS SOME is a party movie of the highest calibre.   Tap the keg, light the bong and experience the 80's College Experience as only Linklater could give it life!

Keep it cool,

Harry
