July 29, 2019 is Disney’s release date for the fourth Indy sequel, happening along nearly four decades after “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
Deadline reports this will be the first “Raiders” sequel in which George Lucas will not shape the screenplay. Lucas received “story by” credit on the first four movies following the two-fisted archaeologist.
Harrison Ford, who will have just turned 76 by that date, will reprise the role of Henry “Indiana” Jones, Jr. Steven Spielberg, who will be 71, directs.
Will it be set in the swinging 1960s? Will Old Indy sport (or acquire) the eyepatch he wore in the TV series? Will he take on Cold War terrorism rings similar to SPECTRE and SMERSH?
Ford has demonstrated no shyness about reprising roles he created decades ago, having signed aboard J.J. Abrams’ insanely successful 2015 “Star Wars” movie and a 2018 “Blade Runner” sequel.
