Bruce Willis to go full on Charles Bronson in a Death Wish remake from the directors of Big Bad Wolves!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Big Bad Wolves was one of the best revenge movies of the last decade (perhaps edged out for the number 1 spot by Blue Ruin), so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise that the directors of that film (Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado) are now attached to direct the long lingering remake of Charles Bronson's iconic revenge thriller Death Wish, per Deadline.

Bruce Willis will be stepping into Bronson's rather large shoes, which is about right. There were very few people who were bigger badasses than Charles Bronson back in the day. The trick, though, is that with that first Death Wish movie he was kinda in dad mode. A little frumpy, a little out of shape... more the average joe than the sweaty god of Once Upon A Time In the West.

Bruce isn't that right now (it'd actually be a little more apt to cast someone like Russell Crowe or Gerard Butler), but I'll be damned if he doesn't have the barely contained anger that's perfect for the role.

Deadline's announcement says they're going back to the original book, but that doesn't really help me put my finger on what the tone is going to be here. With Willis in the lead you could easily get a gritty, brutal revenge thriller of the first movie or the crazy bananas action version of the Cannon-produced sequels.

With the Big Bad Wolves guys on board I know the film will look great and the character work will be solid, but they can play both darkly funny and super serious as well.

Great pick for the creative team behind the camera. Let's see how this one shapes up.
