MUMMY RETURNS teaser trailer online!!!

Published at:  Nov 11, 2000 2:49:07 PM CST

Hey folks, Harry here.... You'll need a Windows Media Player to have a look at this streaming file (UNIVERSAL... Please a FULL SCREEN QUALITY QUICKTIME please!) And this looks fun. The pygmy skeletal dried cadaverous creatures we see briefly are awesome looking... I know they are something that really excites director Stephen Sommers. And then there seems to be leaping dog like things, some more Mummy action and some charging hordes... all sorts of mayhem. Enjoy....

The trailer is online now at ET Online:

here are the url's :

this is the 56k version

this is the 300k version

I have cable, but I found the 56k connection better.
It looks great!

    Let's see...

Brenden Frasier, Billy Zane and The Rock, all in the same movie...sounds like a recipe for suck to me. Sure, the special effects were good looking, but I'm sure it'll be the best part of this flick. Oh, and streaming video sucks, Harry. I'm on cable, and I still couldnt get the sound to keep from making that annoying-as-hell feedback screeching.

    That wasn't Billy Zane!

    by jarek

Jesus. You people. That wasn't Billy Zane. That was Arnold Vosloo, the guy who played Imhotep in the first Mummy (as well as Darkman in the sequels). It looks pretty damn cool to me. And was that Simon Adabeeze (the actor from OZ, i don't know his real name) I saw? If it is, this movie just may kick ass... he's such a kick ass actor?

  • The Rock is the man though, it's just so weird seeing him in a big movie. I'm sure this one will be able to stay as fun as the first one. I wish they didn't have a little kid though, they usually screw everything up in action movies, except for that little chinese kid in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. "Hey lady, you call eem Doctah Jones!"

    Wow...

    by fitzy funk

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. That's not to say the movie is going to be guaranteed to be good, but it looks to be more entertaining than 95% of the "fun flicks" that came out this year and failed horribly. This is also a very well-put together trailer. The best summer trailer I've seen since M:I-2 last spring.

  • I think everybody is going to be pleasantly surprised with the performance of Duane Johnson, aka The Rock, with this film. His job is relatively simple: look threatening and show some charisma, two things he does night in and night out. Good to see most of the original cast is back in place too, as it lends continuity to both films. It's popcorn entertainment, to be sure, but The Mummy 2 should be damned entertaining!

I would complain about people using Japanese weapons in ancient Egypt, but something tells me this flick ain't about historical accuracy. Go figure.

    Goofy fun

    by robin goodfellow

Yeah, hell, this movie looks like one of those goofy escapists flicks of the summer... and that ain't a bad thing. Mr. The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) just seems completey out of place and it looks as if his role is limited. I believe they are going to milk what little screen time The Rock has for all its worth with merchandise of all kinds: happy meals, action figures, collector cups, limited addition toilet seat covers, wrist watches, key chains, hologram shoes, Halloween costumes, condoms & diaphragms, talking dolls, and breakfast ceareals ("Rock O's" with the slogan, "Can your candy ass smell The Rock's ultra-nutritious, yummy to the tummy, breakfast delight?"). Can you say Darth Maul? Hell, you gotta fill the seats somehow, right? Laters everyone

    not bad quality...

    by kojiro

just really tiny; but then I have ethernet so that could explain it. And to the best of my knowledge those weren't Japanese weapons, they were used in mainland asia too. So they're more far east weapons.

    Fitzy_Funk, M:I-2 had a good trailer?

    by mr_sinister

That's news to me. Are you talking about the one that was basically an ad for Oakleys? Anyway, why do so many people hate last year's 'The Mummy'? I thought it was great fun, and if the sequel is anything like it then good.

Caught between a Rock and a hard place...

    by robinp

All I see is a slide show, with the soundtrack so it's hard to distinguish what I'm seeing, but that's streaming video for you. On the other hand, Quicktime is anything but....it takes about a half hour to download, just to see a minute and a half of footage.
From what I've seen of the teaser though....I'll be there !
    If you smelllll....what the Rob....is cooking !

PEARL HARBOUR will probably crush this film next summer...

    by kyle.reese

and it's very unfortunate because I think Sommers is a great director. And unlike some film-makers in Hollywood (not naming names - - SPIELBERG ! SPIELBERG !) he can write his stories too. I loved Deep Rising, and the original Mummy was a fun adventure in the likes of films we haven't seen since Indiana Jones' last outing. But next summer there's so much this film wil have to go up against. I'll bet anything that Pearl Harbour will dominate next summer's box office. And I'll bet even more that it's gonna be full of "AMERICA IS GREAT" crap and completely villify the Japanese in every way possible. I'll also add that on BBC's Talking Movies last night, Dan Aykroid was discussing his part in Pearl Harbour and kept going on about how it's going to beat TITANIC. But does anyone else think that it's only being made because of James Cameron's epic. Before that no studio would invest so much into historical films. Michael Bay lives in the shadow of Cameron and will do anything to reach his level, so what does he do? Spend, spend, spend, - until it's the most expensive film to date - and then use Fox Baja studio that Cameron built for his film.

    The Mummy and Pearl Harbor

    by castor777

I do have to agree with some, why are people always complaining about The Mummy? The movie was never trying to be best picture caliber and I honestly don't think it was meant for anything else other than just being a flat out fun movie. The dialogue was completely written in summer blockbuster fashion and I felt it was a lot smarter than most blockbusters. Why do I say that? Because it knew not to take itself seriously. It was a movie that was having fun with itself and people had fun with it. Sure, I could go on and on about the problems it had but there's no reason to doing that. I'd just be bullshitting myself since I know I'll probubly end up seeing the new one when it comes out in May.

As for the last post about Pearl Harbor, I really hope it doesn't do as good as they hope it does. Like said before me, it'll be full of the red, white, and blue shit all over the place. I'm American and it even bothers me just watching it. I do want to see it but I have a feeling it's going to be nothing other than a Jerry Bruckhiemer film. Sigh. I only wonder what Michael Bay would be like as a director if he weren't under the hands of Bruckhiemer and he could get final cut for once...

  • I really don't see the point of Frasier's character, other than to deliver funny lines. I would've have Weiz' archeaologist the main character and combined Fehr and Frasier's characters. Oded Fehr is about 100x hotter than Frasier.
