THE INVITATION, the latest film from Karyn Kusama (JENNIFER’S BODY, GIRLFIGHT), was certainly turning heads on the festival circuit last year. Now scheduled for an April release date, a new trailer has been released, capturing at least a portion of the suspense and the tension that you may have been hearing about over the past few months.
The film follows a dinner party that plays out one evening in the Hollywood Hills. Will (Logan Marshall-Green) is invited as a guest of his ex-wife (Tammy Blanchard) and her new husband (Michiel Huisman). He and the rest of the guests have not seen one another in quite some time, but the usual catching up and reconnecting is darkened when a cloud of suspicion is cast upon the festivities. Will slowly becomes convinced that their hosts have ulterior motives and that something sinister is going on behind this façade.
Early word is that the film is incredibly tense, unfolding slowly and with guarded intention. You can catch a glimpse of that in the trailer below.
