HARDCORE HENRY plays with inverted settings!

A lot of folks (including our own Copernicus) went nuts for HARDCORE HENRY (then just HARDCORE) when it premiered at Toronto last year, and it’s going to play at SXSW next month before coming to theaters on April 8th.

I dig this poster quite a bit. The sneakers-and-two-pistols thing is a bit standard (though it always works on me), but the upside-down imagery makes the poster feel signature, stylish, and rad. Doesn’t just bank on the first-person gimmick, but hints that it’s used in ways that will feel genuinely exciting and fresh.

There’s now multiple generations of gamers out there who’ve grown up with first-person shooters, and have only DOOM to point to as a cinematic representation of the joys of that style of gaming. If the word on the street is any indication, this could be the film that actually translates that glorious sensation of being right there in the shit in a way that CRANK, DOOM, and even that amazing scene in KICK-ASS didn’t do.

And even if it sucks, at least the poster’s pretty cool.

New trailer coming Wednesday, so be ready for that.

HARDCORE HENRY only plays on one difficulty level on April 8th.
