The smallest of tidbits about JURASSIC PARK 3

Published at:  Nov 10, 2000 2:28:55 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here.... Quint gave us only the beginnings of this type of thing in his L.A. Adventures if you remember.... but now we have a little clearer of a description of what was going on there. Take a listen.... Nikko be talking..

Nikko Wingin' In From Oz,

After "the Grinch" party at Universal Citywalk last
night, I took a stroll through the Universal backlot.
Eeriely deserted, I thought I'd check out what looks
like a new building under construction near the Psycho
House. Was it a new amphitheater? A new soundstage?
An excavation of some sort??? Whatever it was - it was
enormous! About the size of a football field, and
planted where the blue sky/tank used to sit (remember
JAWS: The Revenge?"). After creeping around a
minefield of scaffolding covered with balck tarp, I
found myself inside what looked like the top of a
hydro electric plant snuggled inside a small canyon.
Obviously built on the site of the blue sky/water tank
to make use of its plumbing, the mammoth set was
totally enclosed with scaffolding and two huge trusses
crossing overhead to allow for camera placement. Very
cool. Very large. VERRRRRY Impre$$ive. According to
the Security Guard who, um..."escorted" me out - the
set was built for JURASSIC PARK 3.

The Law of diminishing returns dictates that this will be worse than Lost World, therefor it will be SO bad it will go full circle and be a work of genius, so there.

I love the jurassic park flicks, but that last bit of sarcasm was great. The kids! ha. If good ol' Joe makes it a really dark flick, which we know he won't, that would be cool. Anyways here to The kids getting eaten, and Tea Leoni having hot monkey sex with a raptor!

What the f, Harry? I'm being bombarded by Lotto windows when I click on the main page. I can't get 'em to go away. Isn't this tactic usually reserved for porno sites?

    by freakonaut

It's about god damned time. I don't doubt it will suck and have the same general formula as the last two. But damn, dinosaurs!!! I'll wait in line for stan winstons work no matter what the project. BTW, it it true that th new movie will have the same basic cast as the first, minus the Hammonds? I read that somewhere I think...

    Rocketeer is a classic!!!!!

    by enigmainyourhead

My use of many exclamation marks is to show my sincerety in the statement, not bad grammatical form.

Seriously, watch the Rocketeer again and tell me it doesn't hold up as a great action/comic flick. It's stupendous! Fantastigraphical! They make his helmet out of an old vaccuum cleaner, and it looks soooo cool!

    Secret Set

    by redbeard_nv

For crying out loud. The old tank sits right off the main ascending hill up from the lower lot, the only path back for the trams going back to the tour center (unless you swing out onto Riverside Blvd)! And they make it the area that the place their super secret black tarp set?

Get over about being first or second already, DAMN!

    by themightyra

Gaa,what the hell is so exciting about proclaiming that your "First!" or "Second!"? There is nothing more irritating than looking at the talk back list and curiously looking at what all has to say, and seeing someone had put "Second!" on their subject! Gawd, cut that sh*t out already!

By the way, Jurassic Park 3 is being done not half ass like Jurassic Park 2 was, and Part 3 is gonna kick AZZZZZZZZ!!

    Spinosaurus

    by brak

I bet you guys wish you had cool pictures of Phil Tippets Spinosaurus model, like me. It, alone is going to be worth the price of admission. I could send it in, but......nah. Better not piss off the studios. I'll just make a screen saver out of it. By the way, I was watching JP the other day, and thought it would be cool if they had changed the Universal logo to show the Pangean continent.

What the hell is Spielberg doing?!?!?

    by jp3183

Making a Trilogy by directing the first two and hiring another director to make the third one? Jurassic Park wasn't destined to have a sequel, but I guess Spielberg felt that he didn't show enough breeds of dinosaurs for the first one so he made a second one. Then he felt that settling for only two JP movies would be too weird for his collaboration. The number just don't seem right, but he ran out of ideas when he did the first one. That's why the second one sucked. So to avoid being criticized again for the third one, he decided to step back and let Johnston take the heat. Pretty brilliant don't you think?

    Reply to Talkback

  • Star Wars(first one sucked), Indiana Jones(first one also), and Back to the Future(third one). I sure hope Johnston and Spielberg pull this one off because if they don't then the Jurassic Park trilogy will have two trashed films(second and third).

Why is Raiders the worst Indiana Jones movie?

    by jp3183

Don't get me wrong, I would rather see Raiders than any other action adventure films that are being made today. But ask yourself what Indiana Jones movie would you rather see over and over again? How many good scenes are there in Raiders? Let's see, there's the boulder chase scene, the staff of Ra scene, the snakes scene, the truck chase scene (very nice stunts), and the opening of the ark. But the rest of the movie pretty much sucked (including all of the fight scenes which were poorly choreographed). Temple of Doom has idiotic characters and idiotic actors but every scene is done with perfection. From the fast streets of Shanghai, to the airplane freefall, to the spikes trap scene, and to the 20 minute escape from the Temple of Doom, the movie takes you to the very heart of excitement. Don't tell me the 20 minute escape was boring because in this scene Indy encounters not only the powers of the Thugee but a series of dangers as well. Including the very scene that made the film famous, the all stops out mine car chase. If you want to see a better version of Raiders, then watch The Last Crusade (it pretty much copied from Raiders). The movie is funny and full of action from beginning to end. It shows you different kinds of chases (actually all of the action scenes here are chases), train, car, boat, bike, plane, truck, tank, you name it. It also has a very dramatic and religious ending when Indy is being tested of his worthyness to take the Grail. But I got to give Raiders credit. If the movie wasn't successful then we won't have Temple of Doom and Last Crusade. Just one question though, what ever happened to the Ark?

I am the monach of the sea. I am the ruler of th.....

    by patrick bateman

while that was a good point, mr JP, about the second having more/better action sequences, I have always prefered the 1st for the religious angle more than the action content. In a way though, doom was clever in that the storyline stopped the trilogy being bogged down with TOO much religious toss and made the 3rd seem fresher.
Dunno about the Ark though, they couldn't have done a lot more else with it really....

ps, where the buggery does IJ4 go from grail for christ's sake? (pun intended)
