Englishman Joseph Fiennes will play American pop star Michael Jackson opposite Stockard Channing (as Elizabeth Taylor) and Brian Cox (as Marlon Brando) in Sky Arts’ half-hour road trip comedy “Elizabeth, Marlon and Michael.”
The project is based on a Vanity Fair story that alleges that Taylor, Brando and Jackson all took a September 2001 multistate car trip together after all flights were cancelled in the aftermath of the 9/11 terror attacks.
Brando and Taylor were in New York during the attacks to attend a Jackson concert at Madison Square Garden.
Taylor’s former assistant says the Vanity Fair story is apocryphal; he claims the actress remained in New York following the attacks.
But that revelation is not getting in the way of the Sky Arts production.
