According to Deadline:
* The untitled Amazon series, written and directed by Woody Allen, will consist of six half-hour episodes.
* It will be set in the 1960s.
* It will star Miley Cyrus, y’all, Elaine May and Allen himself. May has an astonishingly tiny on-screen resume; her last movie role was in Allen’s 2000 caper comedy “Small Time Crooks.”
Allen has famously stated that he does not watch series television, but something tells me he’s seen all five hours of “Fanny and Alexander” and all three hours of “The Godfather,” so at least he’s seen lengthy tales told by other filmmakers.
Even though it really won’t be on TV, this is the first TV series written and directed by the 80-year-old comedy icon.
His features subsequent to “Small Time Crooks” include “Curse of the Jade Scorpion,” “Hollywood Ending,” “Anything Else,” “Melinda and Melinda,” “Match Point,” “Scoop,” “Cassandra’s Dream,” “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” “Whatever Works,” “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger,” “Midnight in Paris,” “To Rome With Love,” “Blue Jasmine,” “Magic in the Moonlight” and “Irrational Man.”
Cyrus has played Allen associate Scarlett Johansson several times on "Saturday Night Live."
