Hey folks, Harry here... Arguably, the best film of Sam Raimi's entire career would be A SIMPLE PLAN. It was a brilliant cinematic page turner with Billy Bob Thornton's most heartaching performance... I know as a geek, it is easy to get distracted with the thrilling wonder of Raimi's EVIL DEAD series, which would be enough to wax poetically with purple colored cuss words of happiness for an eternity... and yeah, Raimi's SPIDER-MAN 2 is genius - but then so is fucking CRIMEWAVE and DARKMAN - and I'm real real partial to THE GIFT as well. And - I had a blast with Raimi's OZ, THE GREAT & POWERFUL... but the idea of Raimi directing a Dennis Lehane screenplay of Jacques Audiard's A PROPHET... well, there's room for greatness and there's room for failure there.
It's like when Christopher Nolan got the idea to remake INSOMNIA... he made a solid film, but for all time - it will be compared to Erik Skjoldbjærg's brilliant original INSOMNIA. But, I have to imagine that Dennis Lehane wrote a kickass script to get Raimi to circle it. Audiard's A PROPHET is an absolutely fantastic film - if you haven't checked it out - you absolutely should! Whether or not Raimi signs aboard, it is already a great movie by a great filmmaker.
