“American Idol” launched with a 3.2 last year, but this year’s 3.0 season premiere was still last Wednesday’s top show, besting even a new installment of the mighty “Modern Family.”
“American Crime,” a surprise renewal last season, only managed to beat a single Big Four primetime show last Wednesday: Greg Berlanti’s “Mysteries of Laura.”
Even though Melissa McCarthy is a giant movie star, CBS just acknowledged that it had cancelled “Mike & Molly.” (Curiously, CBS has not announced the cancellation of “The Good Wife,” “Madam Secretary,” “CSI Cyber,” “Hawaii Five=0” or “Blue Bloods,” which all get lower ratings than “Molly.”)
