Ben Mendelsohn is one of those dudes who both a. can play basically anything and b. does a killer job in anything he’s in. So hearing that he’s in talks to play the villain in Spielberg’s READY PLAYER ONE assures me that it’ll have at least one kickass, memorable performance.
Mendelsohn will be playing Nolan Serrento, a corporate exec set on taking over the VR world of OASIS.
They’re still looking for someone to play Wade Watts.
Between this and ROGUE ONE, we’ll be seeing Mendelsohn exhibiting that great talent of his in some geek-friendly environments over the next couple of years. Let’s see who else Spielberg can stack up this cast with (oh, if those Gene Wilder rumors were true...).
