Published at:  Nov 08, 2000 5:29:34 PM CST

This is COMPLETELY unconfirmed, but it's the latest rumor popping around... John and Arnie haven't teamed up since THE LAST ACTION HERO... so we really could be in for something special like last time. Although they also did PREDATOR together which ruled the Earth. Of course the other saying is.... third one's the charm. Hmmmm, well first let's see if this rumor pans out.... we're on it.

hey harry,

new spy from the underworld, legend of baggie pants here.
Arnolds buddy, John Mctiernan is set to direct T3.

  • Last Action Hero with Arnie sucked! I don't want to see this re-teaming, not with material as risky as T3.

    PAUL VERHOEVEN!!!!

    by batman55555

Way to go darthcreep. First one to post. I bet you pick up a lot of woman with that. Anyways, this guy has never done sci-fi before (Predator kinda was I guess). He will turn terminator 3 into Die Hard 4 (I can't even imagine). Get Paul Verhoeven. Granted he made the worst film ever (Showgirls), but if he has a good script he usually does a good job.

  • Last Action Hero was way ahead of its time. One of the main problems was that no one got any of its jokes. "Time to catch the red-eye." That works on so many levels! The man has a red eye, and red-eye is a name for the asshole. Plus the action totally kicks ass.And the theme of movie reality vs. real reality would be explored in later popular movies such as The Truman Show. Last Action Hero was just too far ahead of its time, and too sophisticated. Shane Black is the shit on wheels.

  • ...After the entire building scene with the dead corpse being a bomb and being put in the Tarpits, it shows the villain with the ticket and finding that he can go through the wall. At this point, IMMEDIATELY turn the movie off. It's a pretty good action flick without all that stupid shit in the "real world." Try it out, you could be surprised.

Terminator 3 without Linda Hamilton -- I won't see it.

    my mom/T3?

    by freakonaut

I have just heard an unconfirmed report that my mother is set to direct the third Terminator. She will also retooling the script to include T-1000 gerbils who infiltrate our timeline in order to ruin the world's smoked gouda. The UNCONFIRMED movie poster is up at www.bullshit/rumours@everywhere.com Look, even if this rumour is true, I for one am not too pumped to see the interpretation of the Terminator by the man who brought us "The Last Action Hero"

    T3... where's the love?

    by rick sparks

There's no LOVE in this. James Cameron's not interested, Linda Hamilton's outta there (I don't understand why she tries to 'distance' herself from this role, it's a great character!), Arnold only wants to do it because his latest parts have been stinkers, Edward Furlong kinda vanished so good for him to get a paycheck, but DAMN! There's got to be LOVE! I love Terminator, I got so much love that I even came up with an idea for an 'alternate timelines' movie (y'know, like in quantum physics, whenever a timeline is messed with, an 'alternate reality' is created), with Skynet from the future of the FIRST movie 'downloading' itself into an Arnold-model terminator, sending itself WAY back in time, building itself a big fat secret terminator military, and creating a 'time-hole' to join forces with the Skynet of the SECOND movie's future, and making it an all-out-knock-down-drag-out-tech weapon fest!(PS.... I've copyrighted my scriptment, so don't even THINK about it, cheaters!) But, hey... ya gotta love it to make it, but you REALLY gotta have MONEY to make it, right?

John McTiernan proved himself ineligible for the "third time's a

    by alexandra.dupont

Really. Rarely in the history of action filmmaking has a director squandered so much cred. From "Die Hard" and "Predator" and "Hunt for Red October" to "Medicine Man," "The 13th Warrior" and "Last Action Hero." It's like a souffle in the microwave, really. Andrew Davis is actually McTiernan's peer in this regard, I suppose.

Why is everyone bagging on John McTiernan?

    by blue devil

How can you bag on the guy who directed Predator, Die Hard, Hunt for Red October, and Thomas Crown? Does Orson Welles suck because the only great film he directed was Citizen Kane? Listen, everybody has hiccups. Medicine Man was okay. Last Action Hero and 13th Warrior were both experiments, they weren't great but at least he tried. The point, McTiernan can direct when he's got a good script, and he's always welling to experiment. Personally, I would love to see him direct Arnold again, I just don't think T3 is the project (how about Crusade or that Eagles movie?)

    by abking

Please let John direct T3. First two TERMINATOR films were Cameron and now McTiernan. I've died and gone to heaven!!!

    The right director

    by jedi clampett

I can't think of a better director to carry Cameron's torch. When I first saw the "unsubstantiated director rumor" I was horrified it might be Tim Burton.

oh, alexandra, so clever one moment, so clueless the next...

    by tommy5tone

how dare you dismiss mctiernan? 'the thomas crown affair' was one of 1999's most enjoyable efforts, 'the 13th warrior' was sadly underrated, 'die hard with a vengeance' overcame some poor scripting to make other recent action movies look like the limp eye candy they really were. for god's sake, the man made 'die hard'! 'die hard'! and he demonstrated that he knows how to use arnold properly in 'predator'. sure, casting chris klein as the 'rollerball' lead may indicate that he's dropped the ball, but it's STILL high on my most eagerly-awaited list for 2001. (but you're right: there's no explaining 'medicine man'.) mctiernan shoots clean, efficient action scenes with impact and energy, which makes him a rare and valuable resource in the era of bruckheimer and bay. if we must have 'T3', give it to a good action helmer like mctiernan (or a primo visual stylist like ridley scott or david fincher - i know, i know, like that'll happen).

I Heard It Was Going To Be Woody Allen...

    by buzz maverik

A neurotic Terminator falls in love with the woman he was sent back in time to kill. He keeps making excuses to Skynet while pretending to be a hunky, Teutonic NYU poetry instructor. It has a bittersweet ending in which the lovesick Terminator spies the woman with her new love, a Replicant, coming out of Cantor's. Then, the world blows up.

Realistically, would any director be brave enough to take on T3.

    by kyle.reese

because I doubt it very much. If they do they'll be subdued to endless comparisons to James Cameron's first two movies, and after TITANIC would anyone in Hollywood dare challange Mr King of the World?... My opinion, just let Arnie direct this and make it a parady, 'cause that's what it's gonna be.

  • all part 3's suck but T3 will no doubt go beyond suckiness.. it will venture into the horror of "Last Action Hero" which in all hoinesty, took most of the countries smartest people and cut their inteligence in half
