The original GHOSTBUSTERS ad campaign is one of the most iconic in film history, and here’s Sony’s first attempt at replicating that magic that made that film a surprise megahit back in ’84:
Once again, Kate McKinnon’s character looks the coolest, with those glowing goggles and floppy hair looking awesome against the black-and-white. I was wondering how they’d sell this, and it looks like they went the BRIDESMAIDS route of just making them all look super-cool and tough, though I don’t suspect that’ll be the tone of the final film.
I’m not on the hate train for this one, and am really hoping for the best. Can’t wait to see a trailer to get a sense of what kind of mood they’re going for this time around; is it going to be based in a somewhat recognizable reality like the original, or a madcap, absurd sci-fi comedy?
GHOSTBUSTERS will use them gadgets on July 22nd.
