Ahnuldt talks about DOC SAVAGE and T3
Hey folks, Harry here with latest from AB King on all of our's favorite Austrian Body Builder and overall megastar.... Arnie. I really really wish that Schwarzenegger would drop T3. Ultimately I really do feel the film should end as it did in T2. Uncertainty and with hope. T2 is a perfect film and the T3 script reads like bad fan fiction. Hell the T3 fan script that appeared online was better.... As for DOC SAVAGE, it is nice to hear that progress is being made there. Arnold... become a god... go make CRUSADE. Make it happen. "Do it! Do it noooooow!"
Harry,
This is what the Oak had to say about TERMINATOR 3 and DOC SAVAGE when he
was interviewed at Sci-Fi Wire (thanks to THE ARNOLD FAN):
Arnold Schwarzenegger told SCI FI Wire that he changed his mind about
appearing in the upcoming Terminator 3 movie when he saw a script.
Schwarzenegger had previously told SCI FI Wire that he wouldn't appear in
the next installment of James Cameron's SF franchise if Cameron wasn't
directing himself, and Cameron has bowed out of the sequel.
"I think it was that the script was really good, and Jim Cameron just said,
'Look, you can do it,'" Schwarzenegger said in an interview. "[Cameron said]
I'm prepping True Lies [2], I have to move on, and all that stuff. I think
it was because of that" that I changed my mind, Schwarzenegger said.
Schwarzenegger will appear with Terminator 2 co-star Edward Furlong.
For his part, Robert Patrick, who played the T-1000 cyborg in T2, told Eon
magazine that he hasn't been asked about T3 yet--"I'm not aware of it."
Patrick, who just began his first season as a regular on Fox's The X-Files,
might find it difficult to shoot T3 around his TV schedule.
Arnold Schwarzenegger told SCI FI Wire that a script has been completed for
"Doc Savage", a proposed film based on the Doc Savage series of novels and
comics created by pulp writer Lester Dent. Schwarzenegger would play the
titular millionaire adventurer.
"Doc Savage is a movie that is written," Schwarzenegger said in an
interview. "It's all done. It's just a matter of me having time to film the
movie. Because these are all huge projects, and you can only do ... them one
at a time. But it will be done, ... I would say, probably next year."
Doc Savage is spearheaded by directors Frank Darabont (The Green Mile) and
Chuck Russell (who directed Schwarzenegger in 1996's Eraser) and has been in
development since 1999.

Besides the guy is getting close to 60 years old. How may "action" movies does he have left in him? It's almost getting kind of sad to see what piece of crap movie he will show up in next after being such a big fan of his in the 80's and early 90's.

ARNOLD THIS IT THE ONLY FILM YOU SHOULD BE MAKING!!!!!!!!!!
BRAVEHEART AND GLADIATOR SHOULD BE MERE APPITIZERS FOR THE BAD ASS SWORD FIGHTING FILM THAT SHOULD KICK ASS AND ERADICATE THE LAME IMAGES OF CONAN THE DESTROYER FORM OUR MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!!! -
I never understand why the big superstars never drop their salary to give a boost to a better script that's being held back because it can't sustain your standard action budget+$20million. How many fucking Cessna's do you need? 20mil for the last ten films - $200 million and you don't feel like taking a chance for scale Arnold? Then fuck off and thanks for the memories. Keep making films with Peter Hyams there buddy.
-
As somebody posted the other day, Arnie needs to make "King Conan" and retire with a victory. Hell, it's even a perfect title for a last film...
-
I truly do not understand why CRUSADE won't happen. Maybe now it's not as hot as it could have been as Gladiator kind of came along and theres a few sword and sandal epics brewing which even crusade would have trouble standing up against (LOTR) but from what I've heard of the script and from the older more vulnerable personna of Arnie noww in his fifties I think this movie needs to be made it has so much potential and in the long run will be remembered where as crap like 'Sixth day', 'Eraser' and all the usual shite that spills on to the cinematic floor will be forgotten. This is an opportunity to create a milestone in Arnie's history on film and he's not pursueing it. Why? If you're by some chance reading this Hr Schwarzenegger then "Ziehen ein beisel" get it sorted and use the power you've achieved with classic films like Terminator, Conan, Predator and Total recall to get a class director attached like Cameron or Scott attached and get it made. Klar? klar.

I'm not the biggest fan of this movie but am curious to what the original ending was. Just so's I don't have to spend all the cash on the DVD, can someone post it here (or email me if you're so inclined). Toby thanks you.
-
you're probably better off not knowing it, if T3 actually comes to fruition. Anyway, the cut ending shows Sarah, her son and granddaughter playing in the now futuristic playground (the same one seen in the dream sequences) with a jetsons-themed LA in the background. I forget the actual dialogue, but it showed what 2029 (or whatever the year was shown in the opening sequence) actually became after the fall of SkyNet.
At least, I think that's how it goes, haven't seen it in years since it came out on LASERDISC eons before the DVD was released.
very silly ending. -
do we have to post this.Arnold please do Crusade with Verhoeven.

Screw Arnold...he's done for. I saw him on TRL last week he's turining in to a hack. No more arnold films.

The era of Arnold has come to an end, I am sorry to say. He's not a tenth as physically imposing as he was in, say, the early '80s. And while his projects suffer due maybe to his ego and surely for his inability to PICK projects, he has become a parody of himself. And let's be honest: he's only as good as his director... The TERMINATOR films aren't classics of their genre because of Arnold, and his presence in RAW DEAL, ERASER, and BATMAN AND ROBIN could save NONE of those films. And things don't look much better for SIXTH DAY. C'mon, Arnie... take a pay cut, take some time and pick out a REAL script with a REAL director, and squeeze out one last great film before your dotage sets in.
-
I'm sorry, the ending of T2 that we saw in theaters just was the right step for this film, and when I read earlier in the year that somebody had bought the rights to the franchise and were planning on making T3 *and* T4 (with or without Arnold), I was in awe of the whole idea of this. This is the very type of thinking that gets Hollywood in SO much trouble! Jesus, maybe we should just have a scrawny, skinny old geezer Terminator pop out of an alternate universe, or maybe Arnie can play the terminator's original template, a doctor in the future who creates a new skynet, or maybe we can just drill hot pokers into our eyes and hand over our ten bucks now.
-
DOC SAVAGE. CRUSADE. KING CONAN. Notice that T3 is mentioned nowhere in that list. In the perfect world, we'd be talking about rumors from the set of TRUE LIES II right now, pre-production work on DOC SAVAGE would be commencing and T3 wouldn't even be happening. Oh, to live in such a world. . .
-
Let Arnold make all the Terminator - True Lies - Kindergarten Cop crapola he wants. Just keep him the hell away from Doc Savage, one of my favorite escapist characters.
The first 15 minutes of that 70's George Pal DOC SAVAGE flick aren't bad, but it nosedives from there. But as bad as that film was, imagine Arnold putting his hokey, wisecracking imprint on what could be a really great franchise character: "I'm Dahk Sa-vahj, und ah have dah kewer fah yah evul vays."
Even with Darabont scripting, I don't have much hope if they cast Arnold.
-
I don't think so. Since when has Arnold been able to recognize a good script? What changed his mind is the fact that they waved enough $$$$$ in front of his face -- that and the fact that he's getting DESPERATE

Ever since Arnold recovered from his heart surgery, he's been pounding out load after load of crap. Arnold's admitted that he's terrified of growing old and his heart surgery further drove the message home. I think he's cashing in on his bucks while he can in case he's forced into retirement by some health issue (not that he doesn't already have enough money). Arnie's just trying to make sure he's set for life. Why else would he be passing up quality projects? Because they would take to long to film! Doc Savage, Crusade, that Eagles movie, they're all lengthy projects. Arnie wants to cash in now (how good could a movie be if he's able to bang one out every year?) Up next- Collateral Damage- moan.

Arnold as Doc Savage is ridiculous -- have you SEEN this guy in
by superninja
As in, no longer in top form. Savage is a man at the height of physical prowess, and has to come off with a certain level of intelligence. Arnold is neither. He's either the everyman or the killing machine -- neither of which requires portrayal of heightened intelligence. Arnie made Mr. Freeze a joke. Not that the writing helped, but did anyone believe for 2 secs. the guy was a scientist? Do King Conan or retire!

"Uh, Gee. . . I Wonder Why They Haven't Approached Robert Patric
by cowblaster
Hmm. . . maybe because it would be RETARDED to bring him back for T3 (not that the movie itself is a good idea in the first place). I mean, I think Robert Patrick's pretty damn cool, and his role as the T-1000 was awesome, but the damn thing's DEAD! It was an experimental prototype and was destroyed! It'd be like bringing Whistler back for Blade 2. Oh, wait. . . .
-
I lied, T2 rocked. But it isn't what everbody seems to think it is. The story is not over. I don't recall the humans in the future actually defeating Cyberdyne. All we hear is the they are "winning". Time for another movie!!! They can make this movie really fucking cool. Granted I have not read the shooting script, and I do not agree with having the same characters. If they want to make this movie better than the previous two, then it should not take place in our time again. I will be absolutely pissed if another hit is placed on the Connor clan. Stop with the time travel, it's tired.

Deac Speaks... Arnold should make these three films... King Cona
by deacon
arnold MUST make king conan and doc savage and true lies 2 and crusade! these movies would make him a god amoungst us geeks cause you know he would kick major ass! but no instead he's helping to create the bastardization of the greatest movie of all time.. terminator2... the first two termiantior films kicked so much ass it's frightening to think about a third one made by people that have no respect for cameron's only masterpiece!(ok the abyss was pretty good and true lies was ok but terminator series is the only masterpiece cameron has) arnold do king conan and doc savage then retire.. you'll be swimming in money from the success of the two flicks and you'll be going out on a high note.. not limping away like a bitch after collateral damage and T3

Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor were the best characters in the series, IMHO. The idea of seeing the dark future become a reality seems much more appealing than a retarted Time Travel concept.
-
Make this script, if because of nothing else than rage. All of us are tired of the same shitty sequels (except Camerons of course), why don't we write a script for ourselves? We know we can, why don't we? We are the fans, we know the films.
If you want to talk about some more ideas about T3 feel free to email me at: andreasingo@swipnet.se -
...and while we're at it, Gary Oldman as Ham.
-
...So do I, but a lot can happen between now and the production--like maybe Arnie will drop out and someone else will get cast! Since the writer and the producer are pretty top notch guys, this film will have legs without Arnie!
-
Legendary film director John Ford once said that to make a good film you need "a good script, a good script and a good script".If Arnie get's a couple of those he's still got a few of good movie's left in him.
-
. . .it's prolly gonna be hella better then what we'll actually get, judging by what Harry says. Anyone know where I can find the current T3 script? I'd like to check it out, if only for laughs. Once again I'd like to reiterate, this is a movie that should NOT be made. Make DOC SAVAGE, Arnie! It'd be better for everyone, especially your career.

Arnie has a BILLION dollars (literally). He does not need to...
by wesley snipes
.. "make sure he's set for life".. He already is. He's a good businessman and was a millionaire before he ever became a star. With his real estate deals and what not, he has been a BILLIONAIRE (or very very close) for years now, probably. That's enough for 10 generations to live like kings! So I don't buy that 'fearing old age and wanting to cash out while he can' crap. I think he's just greedy and an egotist. He demands the cash as he's no artist and probably doesn't even particularly like movies beyond any regular guy, and he makes the flicks because he likes being a big star. He may not be an obnoxious ego-maniac in person, but that doesn't mean he isn't driven by ego. And anyone else find it funny that a few years ago he was talking about how doing his stunts would be "dangerous and stupid", but now, after the respect and success of do-it-yourselfers like Cruise & Reeves in MI2 & Matrix respectively, Arnold is talking about how dangerous 6th Day and Collateral Damage were? And how he's trying to do as many of his own stunts as possible?

The Terminator needs to find The Director (hint hint George Mill
by jetjaguar
In my opinion, Arnold needs to hook up with a good director FAST. The guy is a walking comic book character, fer chrissakes. You need guys who are at the top of their game that work in that genre of extraordinary action and sci-fi to direct him well. You get somebody like Peter Hyams (who I think is a decent DP, his "scripts" and his direction of actors notwithstanding), who is not in the class of Cameron or Verhoeven, and you get a mediocre action film. I mean, come on, fucking End of Days. On the basement concept level, IT WAS FUCKING ARNOLD FIGHTING FUCKING SATAN! HOW COOL IS THAT? How can you possibly fuck up an idea with so many possibilites?
I mean, this is The "I'm programmed to kill everyone" Terminator. This is "Wheel of Pain" Conan. This is "Ripping Rictor's Arms Off" Quaid.
THIS IS THE GUY WHO TOOK DOWN AN ALIEN WHO CAN TURN HIMSELF INVISIBLE AND RAN AROUND THE FOREST WITH A GODDAMNED LASER CANNON STRAPPED TO HIS SHOULDER - AND HE'S FIGHTING THE ULTMATE FUCKING EVIL, THE FUCKING SUPREME MONSTER FROM THE FUCKING DEPTHS OF HELL (fucking)!!!!!! I'm sorry, but any kid with an imagination and a box of crayons could make a riveting story with that idea. And what do we get? A limp-dick retardo "horror film", which had neither horror nor action - the only "action" was me vomiting afterwards. To buy Arnold as a character, we must be able to suspend all disbelief; we must be in a universe that totally works on that crazy/ludicrous level, or else Arnold's comic-book-ness is unevenly delivered, and the movie (and him) becomes either laughable or ridiculous (or both). That's why he should hold out for the best directors in the genre to take him on - I'm talking about guys who can do great technical films with adequate, at least halfway-interesting scripts (not necessarily WGA award winners, but at least ones that are well-written enough for the genre they represent, sufficiently engaging us in that afformentioned crazy/ludicrous world). The reason I liked Kyle Reese's idea is because his concept seemed to embody a very action-based film; sort of a hybrid between The Road Warrior and Conan, set in a future ruled by robots. It also made me think of (in his description of the final chase) GEORGE MILLER! Now why hasn't this guy been given an Arnold film to direct? Jesus, he made The Road Warrior, probably the all-time-great comic book action film; in fact, why hasn't this guy been given ANY COMIC BOOK ACTION FILMS TO DIRECT? Maybe he has, and turned them down. BUT JEEZUS! I thought months ago that he was the guy for Spiderman. I stand by my choice. In summation, Arnold needs to hook up with the greats of that genre, and he NEEDS TO HOOK UP WITH GEORGE MILLER - FOR ANYTHING - christ, ANYTHING! And Kyle you should write the damn script and get it copywrited; who knows, if the studios don't buy a script based on an idea they're already developing, maybe you can get a job working on THE ULTIMATE GEORGE MILLER/ARNOLD SCHWARZENNEGGAR ACTION FILM! That's all folks. -
Yikes, forgot that ol' Predator actually BLEW HIMSELF UP (technically not Arnold's doing) but you get the jist of what I was saying.

Wow, maybe I will make it into the film industry one day...
by kyle.reese
I really appreciate all your enthusiasm considering all my friends at college said the idea was terrible. But as much as I'd like to see this kind of film made I'm not gonna write the script (too busy with other ideas, and college - damn). But if there are any other wannabe writers like me who wouldn't mind developing this further I've got a loose treatment on my suggestion which I lamely called Terminator: The Coming Storm. E-mail me at thestranger18@hotmail.com . I even think it would be interesting if maybe Reese was somehow given Sarah Connor's photograph while he was in the death camps... I really believe that the franchise should look back at this intriguing and disturbing backstory. The way Reese described his world in the original has such an eerie atmosphere and, like someone mentioned, it could be a high-tech version of the MAD MAX future, perfect to explore. Think about it, we have civillisation dimolished in a flash and the survivors are forced to rebuild everything they've lost... I don't wanna see a time travelling female cyborg or have SKYNET preaching about it's rule over the world (as I read in the script). It needs to be taken seriously, real science fiction, not comic book action.
