Once again, Umberto "El Mayimbe" Gonzalez of Heroic Hollywood has lived up to his reputation for tracking down upcoming superhero flick secrets being kept tightly under wraps. This time around, he's claimed to have scooped one of the bigger mysteries lingering in the aftermath of James Gunn's widely praised, fun as hell 2014 MCU entry GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.
Who is Peter Quill's father?
El Mayimbe has created the slightly over six minute video claiming to have answered just that question, with a breakdown for why exactly he feels he nailed this scoop, and how the man responsible for Star-Lord's existence will fit into future MCU plans.

So, according to El Mayimbe, Peter Quill's father is the Kree Silver Age superhero, Mar-Vell (Captain Marvel if you're nasty), with a reported four independent sources to back it up. Thems is some big claims, and this is massive news in shedding light on some of the MCU roadmapping plan if true.
Of course, this is a rumor until it's not, but El Mayimbe has a decent track record in the superhero news-breaking department, for better or worse. I'm personally a fan of getting my surprises in real time, in the theater, but film journalists can't always be choosers.
If true, how do you believe the reveal will play out in 2017's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2? Could this mean the future Ms. Marvel gets some screen time setup in VOL. 2? If Mar-Vell is Peter's pops, one of the most cosmically gifted Marvel superheroes being potentially dropped into the middle of the road to the inevitable Infinity Guantlet throwdown means the scope of the MCU is only getting more ambitious, and more difficult to ultimately pull off.
I have faith, but that's gonna be one incredible undertaking.
