The Leftovers 2.8 FAQ

What’s it called?
“International Assassin.”

Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is credited to Damon Lindelof & Nick Cuse. This is the first produced teleplay by the son of Lindelof’s fellow “Lost” showrunner Carlton Cuse.

What says HBO?
“In the wake of Kevin’s desperate decision to vanquish Patti, questions and answers emerge as the world adjusts to the repercussions of what comes next.”

“The world adjusts”?
I confess I find that logline a little confusing.

Does the episode open with a flashback?
No.

How does it start?
With a wet, naked man.

Matt Jamison?
The wet, naked man is not Matt.

Kevin’s not actually dead, right?
Kevin’s dead!

What’s doing with Jill and her mom?
They do not appear this week.

Is Nora back?
No.

Is Patti gone?
This is an excellent question.

Does Bill Murray’s brother Joel (“Mad Men”) return as that employee of the U.S. Department of Sudden Departure?
No.

Does the Reverend Matt Jamison put on some clothes?
Matt’s Tardis is unglimpsed this week, as is Christopher Eccleston.

The big news?
Most of the series’ regulars do not appear tonight, but there are also a lot of familiar faces we’ve not seen in a while.

What else is HBO not telling us?
It’s appropriate that the names on the teleplay are Lindelof and Cuse, because this is maybe the “Lost”-iest “Leftovers” ever.

What’s good?
The bald man’s hatred of Euros. “Know first who you are, then adorn yourself accordingly.” “We’ll fucking burn.” “They’d rather put a bullet through my head than accept my truth.” “Would you shoot this motherfucker in the face for me?” “Pushing’s probably easier.” “Would it help if …” “Stuart was the four-day reigning champ.”

What’s not so good?
No Nora!

How does it end, spoiler boy?
“Holy shit,” exclaims Evie’s brother.

9 p.m. Sunday. HBO.
