Alex Proyas' GODS OF EGYPT has brightly colored character posters to wonder about...

Hey folks, Harry here...  there's really only one reason to get excited about GODS OF EGYPT...   it isn't the screenwriters - who have yet to really nail much of anything.   But instead, I go more Auteur Theory with my excitement for this one.   Alex Proyas - who made CROW (the only one worth watching!), DARK CITY (fucking phenomenal film!), I ROBOT (That had a lot of cooks in the kitchen and yet he managed to make something at least entertaining) and his last film, KNOWING - was far far more fun than most gave credit for.   He  has a solid cast, and even with iffy screenplays - he's made films that shine above the material that he was usually given.   That's why I continue to root for and anticipate something...  WOW - from Proyas.   CROW still blows me away, but DARK CITY...  I saw that at an advance screening sitting about 10 feet from the screen in the seat closest to the exit door beside the screen - the angle was giving me a headache and a neck cramp - AND I LOVED IT!   Saw it 4 times upon it's first week!  I was really rooting for his PARADISE LOST that was in development at LEGENDARY for ages - the production art for that was just fucking jaw dropping!   Seems he excised a bit of that Christian mythmaking with KNOWING, but him turning his crazy awesome production mind to the Egyptian Gods of old...   Playing with BLACK PANTHER, ELEKTRA, KING LEONIDAS, JAIME LANNISTER, PRINCE PHILLIP, TOMAR-RE, JOHN MURDOCH, THE DAG, CHEEDO THE FRAGILE -- I mean - what a line up of awesome folks!   I just hope that SUMMIT gave Proyas everything he needed to make the best possible version of this fantasy.   Here's the plot summary that went out with these posters:

Magic, monsters, gods and madness reign throughout the palaces and pyramids of the Nile River Valley in this action-adventure inspired by the classic mythology of Egypt.  With the survival of mankind hanging in the balance, an unexpected hero takes a thrilling journey to save the world and rescue his true love.

Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless god of darkness, has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict.  With only a handful of heroic rebels opposing Set’s savage rule, Bek (Brenton Thwaites), a bold and defiant mortal, enlists the aid of powerful god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in an unlikely alliance against the evil overlord.  As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen take them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both god and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the spectacular final confrontation.

Now - here's the posters:

Film is out February 26th, 2016!  Keep your fingers crossed!!!
