Shyamalan's next gets a title and a release date!

That M. Night Shyamalan movie he’s doing with James McAvoy now has a title and release date.

The Blumhouse Production, titled, SPLIT, is fairly mysterious, with only the description of “a suspense thriller with elements of the supernatural,” cluing us in as to what to expect.

It will be released on January 20th, 2017. That puts it a week ahead of RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER and…possibly another Blumhouse production (though i suspect this might knock that out of the slot, whatever it is. It also follows POWER RANGERS and the next FRIDAY THE 13TH movie by a week.

Late January is about as sexy of a release date as THE VISIT’s bow on 9/11 (not kidding), but the lack of competition paid off and the film became Shyamalan’s most profitable domestic grosser since THE VILLAGE. If the director and Jason Blum can strike oil yet again and get people excited about this flick, whatever it may be about, they might steal all that POWER RANGERS/Jason Voorhees money for themselves and cut themselves a nice chunk of change amidst the post-Christmas, pre-Oscar wasteland.

Would love for this guy to start knocking out SIXTH SENSEs and UNBREAKABLEs again, so I’m staying optimistic, even though there’s literally no indication of what he’s up to, even with this title (which makes me think of RAISING CAIN, for some reason...).

See if SPLIT reminds you of *that* shot in BONE TOMAHAWK on January 20th, 2017.
