Disney's TOWER OF TERROR: THE MOVIE in the works!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I go to Disneyland a lot. I totally drink the Kool-Aid when it comes to that place. I love theme parks in general, but there's something special about the Disney Parks. I have an Annual Pass for Disneyland and try to make it down to Anaheim every time I find myself in LA (which is quite often). When I go, one of the rides I always make sure to hit is Tower of Terror.

How could I not love a haunted hotel ride that's framed within the Twilight Zone universe?

Disney's turned its eye to making that ride into a movie, according to Deadline. This wouldn't be the first time this attraction was turned into a live-action story. You may remember a 1997 TV movie starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst went by that name.

John August wrote a treatment that would completely remove any reference to Twilight Zone and focus only on the haunted hotel aspect and Disney's on the hunt for someone to flesh that out into a feature length script.

First of all, boo that it's not at all related to Twilight Zone, but props to Disney for dipping their toes back into family horror. Youth-geared genre was a big part of my formative years (from Watcher in the Woods to Something Wicked This Way Comes to The Black Cauldron), but there hasn't been much like that in recent years.

We'll see what August and whomever is hired to write the screenplay comes up with. I still think the potential Guillermo del Toro-directed Haunted Mansion movie is the cooler Disney Theme Park Attraction project, but that's my favorite Disney ride of all time, so I'm a bit biased...
