Check out an Exclusive Clip for Sion Sono's TOKYO TRIBE!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with a tiny glimpse at what I've heard is an insane film from an insanely visual director, Sion Sono (Shion Sono). (Nordling apparently was over the moon for it at Fantastic Fest.) While I wasn't able to see the film at Fantastic Fest, I thoroughly enjoyed WHY DON'T YOU PLAY IN HELL, LOVE EXPOSURE, and SUICIDE CLUB, so I'm pretty curious to check this one out. Based solely on the clip below, it feels like the man's painting with light, super saturating colors, and cranking up the level of anime/comic book style visuals (which I'm more than excited to see in action) all wrapped around a bizarre futuristic Japan WARRIORS style Manga series of a story. The folks at XLrator Media are bringing the film to Theaters, VOD, and iTunes on October 23rd (Next Friday), so if the clip below hooks your interest, think about checking the full film out. Again, I've not seen it and am hopeful it lives up to the hype and Sono's reputation, so if you have seen it - shoot off your thoughts in the Talkbacks. The clip below definitely gives a nice clue about the tone of the film and the sheer epic level of ingredients Sono had to cook with. The poster alone feels like a shotgun blast of saturated style, something densely packed with an interesting visual killing any sort of dead space. Hopefully the film is just as exciting! I guess we'll all find out on October 23rd.

In a futuristic Japan, territorial street gangs form opposing factions collectively known as the Tokyo Tribes. When one of the gang leaders breaks the fragile peace, it triggers a brutal street war for supremacy. Based on a popular Manga series and told almost entirely in rap verse, TOKYO TRIBE is an ingenious mash-up of Yakuza gang violence, martial arts action and hip-hop musical.

Looks cool to me, but how about you folks?
