In Austin This Tuesday? Come Check Out LUMBERJACK MAN with Muldoon!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, your pal Muldoon here with a beautiful oddity of a film - something that could be pretty fun for the horror hounds out there in AICN-land. While I typically stick to showcasing short films with the occasional review/interview as time allows, I'm all about the indie filmmakers out there and am always interested to hear about new movies that might not get a wide theatrical release with millions of dollars in PR to smack you in the face nonstop with, movies that weren't made by a commitee, but by passionate indie filmmakers that wanted to tell a story. In this case, Josh Bear of Twisted Pixel Games wanted to tell one hell of a strange story: a slasher flick involving a killer Lumberjack, a church camp full of kids, Michael Madsen front and center, and a kill involving maple syrup. It's just too bizarre of a combination for me not to be curious. It's the season of watching horror films with Halloween just weeks away, and while zombies still seem to be the hot topic, I've been dying for a fun slasher film (since the first HATCHET, actually). Hopefully Josh can deliver.

As the staff of Good Friends Church Camp prepares for a spring break filled with "Fun Under the Son", a demon logger rises from his sap boiler to wreak his vengeance and feast on flapjacks soaked in the blood of his victims.

The folks at AFTER DARK are releasing the movie on October 16th on VOD and as part of its "8 Films To Die For" event, so in less than a week it'll be out there for all to see. In celebration of its release, The Alamo Drafthouse Village is having a screening this Tuesday night at 10:00pm with a Q&A after the screening. I rarely will post specific screenings of films I've not yet seen, but really think this one could be fun and simply want a few AICN readers (like me) to know it exists, folks with similar tastes just hoping to catch a refreshing return to 80's slasher silliness (yes, most of them were riddled with silliness and this one looks to have a heaping serving of humor as well). So if you're in town and feel like checking out something rather strange - I'll see you there. If not, then perhaps check it out on the 16th when it hits VOD. This movie doesn't look like it's for everyone, but I've got a gut feeling we've got a few horror hounds that this might be perfect for!

At $5.00 a seat at a venue where beer is flowing, food is made fresh to order, and with a chance to catch Michael Madsen pop off a few fun one liners - it sounds like a good time to me. I'll be going and hope to see a few of you there as well! If you're in the mood to check out some interesting horror, be sure to check out Ambush Bug's daily horror recap or AICN Horror's latest blog!
