Herc’s Seen Tonight’s FLASH & IZOMBIE!! May Returns To AGENTS!! Sorkin On NOAH!! Tuesday TV Talkback!!

Last week we met Inhuman collector Rosalind Price, we saw Coulson’s bionic hand, and we witnessed Jemma Simmons cavorting in a galaxy far, far away.

ABC says of tonight’s “Purpose In The Machine”:

Fitz and the team enlist the aid of an Asgardian to unlock the secrets of the ancient monolith that swallowed Simmons, and Agent May is at a crossroads in her personal and professional life.

Tonight’s unusually entertaining “iZombie” gets plenty of comic mileage out of having Liv eat a racist whose strong suit was not tact. “Veronica Mars” creator Rob Thomas wrote tonight’s installment and happily puts plenty of hipsters in her eyeline. The CW says of tonight’s “Grumpy Old Liv”:

Liv consumes the brains of a cantankerous old man to help gain insight into his death. After receiving an anonymous call on the tipster hotline, Liv and Detective Babineax stop by the residence of Byron Thistlewaite, to question the mysterious caller. Meanwhile, Ravi suspects that Major might be experiencing a side effect of the cure, and Liv pays Blaine a surprise visit.

The CW says of “The Man Who Saved Central City”:

Picking up months after the Singularity attacked Central City, Barry is still struggling to forgive himself for Eddie's death. Concerned about putting his friends in danger, Barry has pushed everyone away and has chosen to protect the city on his own. When a meta-human named Atom Smasher attacks the city, Iris tells Barry that he needs to let his friends help him protect the citizens of Central City.

Those who love “The Flash” will continue loving it. Some notes on the second-season premiere (beware minor spoilers):

* Barry tonight agonizes over whether to attend the city’s celebration of The Flash.

* Try not to get too excited about Teddy Sears name in tonight’s opening credits. Sears, who plays Earth-2 Flash Jay Garrick, does not appear until literally the last minute of tonight’s episode.

* If you know your DC Comics, you know Atom Smasher, aka Al Rothstein, is a hero of Earth-2. Readers also know that like Earth-1’s Ray Palmer, Earth-2’s Rothstein has size-changing powers.

* If you’re excited to see Barry’s new Flash costume, know that he wears the old one in tonight’s installment. The new duds don’t show up until very late in the episode.

* Tom Cavanaugh’s character, Harrison Wells, appears early in tonight’s installment. I’m assuming we’re getting a Harrison Wells from an alternate universe this season, but that’s not the Harrison Wells we get tonight.

Premiering tonight:
Finding Carter (MTV)
The Flash (CW)
iZombie (CW)

With its third-season premiere, “Agents of SHIELD” scored its best rating of 2015. TV By The Numbers is already predicting a fourth season.

“The Muppets” remains mighty despite losing a big chunk of its audience from week one to week two.

While “The Voice” went up, “Best Time Ever” went down.
