Big-Screen GAME OF THRONES Prequel To Resurrect Tywin Lannister, Ned Stark, Oberyn Martell, Robert Baratheon, More??

I am – Hercules!!

George R.R. Martin allegedly confirmed at HBO’s Emmy party that showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are planning a big-screen “Game of Thrones” movie.

“There will be a movie but I will not be involved,” Martin allegedly proclaimed. “I have too much to do. That is something HBO and the DB and David are dealing with. I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do. The pressure is on. I am such a slow writer and the fans get upset that I don’t write faster.”

Did Martin actually say this?

"No one is working on any movie just now," Martin typed Tuesday on his Not A Blog blog.

That "just now" part may prove important. Martin has said before that HBO is contemplating a "Thrones" movie.

The bigger news, if true, is the movie may NOT be a sequel depicting the Khaleesi’s fearsome dragons bringing fiery death to Tommen and Cercei Baratheon.

The movie may be a prequel, an unnamed source supposedly involved in the production supposedly told Britain's Daily Star Sunday tabloid.

"With the 'Game Of Thrones' universe, there is much rich material and no constraints on when that story will take place,” noted the source. “They are looking at dipping back in time during certain periods of the series, which could be examined as a one off plot.

"That means that some of the big characters who fans have seen die on screen could be resurrected such as Robb Stark, Catelyn Stark, Oberyn Martell The Red Viper and Ned Stark."

Leaving aside “Better Call Saul,” “Casino Royale” and big chunks of “The Godfather Part II,” it’s hard to think of successful prequels, but I must say I’m hugely excited at the propect of seeing Charles Dance and Sean Bean reprising such great roles on the big screen.
