Trailer for Ron Howard's IN THE HEART OF THE SEA, Starring Chris Hemsworth!

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

Ron Howard is bringing a Man vs. Nature epic your way this Christmas with the upcoming IN THE HEART OF THE SEA. The film is based on the harrowing true story that would eventually go on to inspire Herman Melville's MOBY-DICK.

Here's the official synopsis:

In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance.  The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick.  But that told only half the story.  “Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive.  Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.

In a nutshell, some guys go out whaling and the whales were all "Fuck you asshats! I'm going to eat your boat!"

The trailer really only focuses on the monster whale attacks, and while that all looks freaking cool, I'm also excited to see the film delve into the quieter, darker parts of the story. The psychological aspect that sets in as they struggle to survive the aftermath.

Check it out. IN THE HEART OF THE SEA opens on December 11th. What do you guys think?
