Umberto Gonzalez must know someone pretty close to WONDER WOMAN if he’s not just whistlin’ dixie.
He had the scoop a few days ago that WW would be partially set in World War I and the present (which has yet to be confirmed, but is looking more and more likely), and now he claims to have the skinny on who's being eyed to play villains in the flick…and it's two folks with experience playing the heavy.
According to the former “Mayimbe,” Sean Bean is up for the role of Ares, God of War, and they want Eva Green to play Circe, the Sorceress.
Yes, Eva Green as “the Sorceress.” That must’ve been a hard idea to land on. Makes me think of Todd Hockney in USUAL SUSPECTS: “You got a team of monkeys working round the clock on this?”
Even Gonzalez admits that things are really early, and that these are just the studio’s top picks for these roles, but as he mentions, no one has really clued us in as to who the villain(s) was, so if this is true, at least we know that much. As for Bean and Green (who I hope hit the road after the shoot like “Mac and Jack” in the “Say, Say, Say” video), they could both play supervillains/Greek gods/goddesses in their sleep; in fact, Bean's already played Zeus in the first PERCY JACKSON flick (as well as Odysseus in TROY), and Eva Green played a sexy, evil Greek ex-pat in 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE (like you forgot…). It’s obvious casting, but “obvious” doesn’t necessarily mean “ineffective”. It’d be fun to see either of them eat the scenery right out from under WW’s boots.
What do you guys think of Ned Stark as Ares and Ava Lord as Circe? Should they make it a GOT reunion by hiring her namesake from that show, Lena Headey?
