Pilou Asbæk, who played Richard in Luc Besson’s “Lucy” and hails from the same nation (Denmark) as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, will on “Game of Thrones” play Euron Greyjoy, a character who first turned up in “A Feast For Crows,” the fourth of five published novels on which the HBO series is based.
Like most Greyjoys, Euron is a real piece of work. He captains a ship dubbed The Silence and makes it a very quiet ship by removing the tongues of all its crew members.
Euron is also the eldest younger brother of Lord Balon Greyjoy, which I gather makes Euron a likely candidate to rule the Iron Islands should Balon meet a mysterious death and Theon continue to prove indisposed. (If Theon’s sister bore Theon a son, the out-of-wedlock spawn would be a bastard and I reckon ineligible to rule.)
One thing about Euron, though, is he was exiled from the Iron Islands for raping (or perhaps merely impregnating) a wife of Euron and Balon’s weak-minded kid brother Victarion.
Another thing about Euron is he took a great interest when he learned comely Stormborn Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen hatched some dragons.
