CBS’ Dome vanishes in 10 days.
The network decided Monday that the Sept. 10 season finale will be the last episode of “Under The Dome” to air.
Very, very loosely based on the popular Stephen King novel, “Dome” was summer’s #1 show two years ago but has performed dismally in 2015 despite having this summer’s #1 series, “Big Brother,” as its lead-in.
Of CBS’s three current scripted summer hourlongs, the strongest is “Zoo,” which will be back next summer.
“Extant,” which also follows “Big Brother” but gets even lower ratings than “Dome,” is apparently still on the bubble.

SPOILER ALERT!! At the end of King’s novel The Dome was vanquished. The TV version of the Dome has proven more porous than the book’s, with characters entering and exiting the supposedly impermeable sphere. (Fans of the novel will also have difficulty recognizing the Dome’s TV backstory, which suggests extraterrestrial “eggs” have been around for years. It also turns out that operatives of evil government contractor Aktaion Energy (owned by Dale Barbara’s dad!) caused The Dome to appear when they came into contact with an alien “egg.”)
Will we a week from Thursday finally see that Dome vanish? And if we do, will anyone care?
