The potential spin-off would focus on The Mayans Motorcyle Club, an old rival of the Sons Of Anarchy that eventually evolved into a key SAMCRO ally.
The Hollywood Reporter story on the matter suggests the spin-off might emerge as a “Better Call Saul” like prequel.
“Anarchy” showrunner Kurt Sutter indicates that if the spin-off goes forward, it will not be set in Northern California as “Anarchy” was, and its "tone, pace, storytelling will be unique."
Sutter – who routinely fell into a snit when “Anarchy” failed to garnered Emmy nominations – is currently writing and starring in yet another FX show, “The Bastard Executioner, set in 14th century Europe. “Bastard” hits the channel Sept. 15.
It’s hard to imagine FX not greenlighting Sutter’s new motorcycle project to series, given that “Anarchy” was the most popular series in the channel’s history.
