Shortly after last May’s season finale, “Gotham” mastermind Bruno Heller seemed to indicate that The Joker will arrive very early in season two.
“ … there will be a very big villain arriving in Season 2, one who doesn’t want to run Gotham, but destroy it,” Heller, who also served as HBO’s “Rome” showrunner, told Deadline.
In the Feb. 16 episode that also introduced Dick "Robin" Grayson’s circus family to “Gotham,” a murderous teen named Jerome exhibited a Joker-ish laugh and grin.
We see more of that in the promo above.
“There’s so much revealed in the first three episodes,” Heller explains. “Jerome contains the DNA of The Joker, but if he isn’t him then how does someone else appear to be the Joker? How does The Joker’s identity transfer into somebody else’s body?”
Word is Jerome will be hanging out with Barbara Kean about ten seconds after she’s thrown in Arkham Asylum.
New episodes of “Gotham” return to Fox Sept. 21.
