GAMBIT may have found his Bella Donna!

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL/THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL’s Lea Seydoux has been offered the role of Bella Donna Boudreaux in the Channing Tatum-fronted GAMBIT flick that Rupert Wyatt is getting together.

Seydoux, who is also appearing in SPECTRE later this year, beat out two other contenders for the role: Abbey Lee Kershaw (the bride "Dag" with the creepy white hair in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD) and Rebecca Ferguson (whose character I thought ate up far too much screentime in MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: ROGUE NATION). If Seydoux turns it down, it will likely not go back to Ferguson, who is set to appear in the adaptation of THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN.

Bella was a childhood friend of Remy LeBeau, and the two were street criminals together until they were split up due to their respective allegiances to the Assassins’ Guild and the Thieves’ Guild. Presumably, this means we’ll see these guilds come into play in this story, and their relationship will be front and center.

Seydoux is probably best known for her role in the controversial BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR, but she’s been slyly effective in her smaller, more mainstream roles, and has a somewhat unconventional look for a Bond girl/leading lady. Between THE ESCAPIST, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, and THE GAMBLER, Wyatt’s shown a good eye for casting, and Seydoux is a surprisingly highbrow choice for this spinoff’s female lead. Bella’s going to have to be tough, elusive, and attractive, and Seydoux should fit those requirements nicely, should she decide to take the role.

What you guys think? Good call, or should they look at someone else for Bella?
