Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Daniel Bruhl made his name amongst American cinephiles for playing a decorated Nazi war hero in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and now it looks like he's going to be on the right side of history for Whale Rider director Niki Caro's adaptation of Diane Ackerman's THE ZOOKEEPER'S WIFE.
Bruhl will co-star alongside Jessica Chastain as the man who ran the Warsaw Zoo during the time of the German occupation. The real life couple cleverly used the Zoo to shelter hundreds of Jews from the Warsaw ghetto.
The Wrap says Focus Features will distribute the film in the states and that filming begins next month.
Chastain is great, Bruhl is great and Whale Rider was great, so let's hope all that greatness ends up giving us a memorable WW2 flick.
