Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Universal and Legendary are ramping up on their big relaunch of the Eighth Wonder of the World. Kong: Skull Island already has a great cast that includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and Corey Hawkins, with Sam Jackson and John C. Reilly reportedly close as well.
Now it looks like Toby Kebbell's joining in on the fun, per THR.
Kebbell is no stranger to smart apes, having played Koba in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. He's a great non-digital screen presence, too. There were a million problems with Fantastic Four, but his work as pre-villain Doom was actually pretty right on. Plus he's turned in quality work in Rocknrolla and The East.
Word has it that this Kong will be radically different from what we know and has no connection to any of the previous cinematic telling of this tale. In short, it's not a love story. If that means we get humans in trouble on Skull Island for the vast majority of the picture then I'm game. Bring on the creatures and crazy fantasy adventure!
