Nordling here.
Scott Derrickson and C. Robert "Massawyrm" Cargill's SINISTER is quite a nasty horror film that we're quite fond of at AICN, and I'm very excited to see the sequel. Ciaran Foy directed a very creepy movie a few years back called CITADEL that made him a director to whom attention should be paid. SINISTER 2 opens August 21st, and to prepare for the sequel, AICN and Blumhouse Entertainment will be hosting screenings of the first SINISTER across the country in anticipation.
I'm really excited about what I'm hearing about the sequel, which takes the story of the first film in a bold new direction. It's important to support unique voices in horror (and Derrickson, Cargill, and Foy are certainly that), and I look forward to Fantastic Fest every year because of those new voices. SINISTER 2, to me, is along those lines.
Sure, you could watch it at home, but there's nothing that beats seeing a scary movie at the theater. AICN is hosting screenings of the first SINISTER on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, at the following theaters - and they're totally free!

I'll be hosting the Houston screening on Wednesday, and I'm excited. There are sure to be some surprises, and it's always a blast to watch a scary movie with the Alamo audience. If you're going to an Alamo Drafthouse venue, you can also reserve your seat with a $5 food voucher. All other venues will feature free screenings of SINISTER on a first-come/first-get-in basis. Hope to see you there!
UPDATE FOR HOUSTON: Tomorrow's screening is extra special. I guarantee the Houston audience will get something that none of the other screenings will get. If you're a fan, you should come.
Nordling, out.
