The first trailer has debuted for Todd Haynes' highly anticipated romantic period peice, CAROL, and it is stunningly gorgeous.
Based on the novel The Price of Salt, by Patricia Highsmith (who also penned the novels Strangers on a Train and The Talented Mr. Ripley), the film tells the story of a young woman (Mara) in 1950's New York, who meets and begins a love affair with a married woman (Blanchett) whom she meets while working at a department store.
After FAR FROM HEAVEN, I am so excited to see Haynes diving back into the look and aesthetic of the 1950s. This initial trailer is intimately captivating, and I'm hoping the film carries the same feel.
CAROL opens on November 20th in the US, and in the UK on November 27th.
