Hey folks, Harry here... Cobie Smulders, aka Agent Maria Hill, of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is out to join another not-quite-super, but still a hero series... that's right, she's in talks to be the female lead in the Ed Zwick directed sequel to the original JACK REACHER, which was helmed by Chris McQuarrie... no word if this means that Zwick will direct the next MISSION IMPOSSIBLE... but we'll see.
The word broke from THE WRAP - Paramount isn't commenting upon the casting of the part of "Danika" which Smulders is allegedly up for, but I can totally see Cruise's grumpy deadly Jack Reacher teaming up with. The film is scheduled to lens before the end of the year, and would be released in the latter part of 2016. And we've heard this JR2 is going to be based upon the NEVER GO BACK - which sounds quite intriguing.
I really quite liked JACK REACHER, there was something very fun about the no-nonesense version of Cruise. Plus I'm looking forward to seeing what a new Zwick/Cruise partnership will look like.
