“True Blood” fans know her as Sookie’s pal Tara, “Hannibal” fans know her as Francis Dolarhyde’s blind girlfriend, and on “Arrow” Rutina Wesley will play Liza Warner, better known to fans of her print adventures as Lady Cop.
Introduced in 1975’s fourth issue of 1st Issue Special (a confusingly named anthology series that actually ran 13 issues), Warner joined the cops in an effort to find the Richard Speck-ish swine who slaughtered her college roommates as she hid under a bed. (In 1966 a nursing student in Chicago escaped Speck’s wrath using the same method.)
Warner re-emerged in 2007 as Ivy Town’s chief of police in two issues of All-New Atom, which followed the adventures of Ray Palmer’s successor, Ryan Choi.
On "Arrow" Wesley's character will be a lady cop on an anti-vigilante task force.
Mehcad Brooks, who played Tara’s boyfriend Eggs on “True Blood,” will be this autumn showing off his chiseled physique in the role of James Olsen on “Supergirl,” which is said to share the DCTV universe with “Arrow.”
