When Chris Carter wrote and directed the 2008 “X-Files,” sverybody kind of forgot FBI girl Monica Reyes, who helped fill the TV vacuum when David Duchovny went off to pursue his motion picture career.
Annabeth Gish, who starred as special agent Reyes in 23 episodes (opposite Robert Patrick’s John Doggett), is coming back for Carter’s six-hour “X-Files” miniseries launching Jan. 24.
No word on Doggett’s return, but the 2016 run will see the returns of Spooky Mulder, Dana Scully, Walter Skinner, Cancer Man and The Lone Gunmen.
Gish started out opposite Julia Roberts in 1988’s “Mystic Pizza” before moving on to other big-screen fare like “Shag,” “Coupe De Ville,” “Wyatt Earp,” “Beautiful Girls,” “Steel,” “SLC Punk!” “Double Jeopardy” and “Pursuit of Happiness.”
Subsequent to her 2001-2002 run on “X-Files,” she played President Barlet’s oldest daughter on “The West Wing” and got agreeably naked as a politician’s wife on Showtime’s terrific “Brotherhood.” More recently she had major recurring roles on “Pretty Little Liars,” “Sons of Anarchy” and “The Bridge.”
