For the last couple of months, we've been watching Colin Farrell throw back rotgut whiskey and hoover up cocaine as TRUE DETECTIVE's Ray Velcoro. For my money, his hugely unhinged performance has been the highlight of this uneven second season. I imagine it took a lot out of him physically and emotionally, so it's nice to see the underappreciated actor shifting gears for something a little less nihilistic.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Farrell has signed on to play Graves in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter spinoff/prequel FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM. His character is evidently a New York City-based wizard encountered by the protagonist, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). Farrell joins a cast that also boasts Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller and Dan Fogler.
FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM hits theaters on November 18, 2016. If you miss it, Farrell will personally buttfuck your father with your mom's headless corpose on this goddamn lawn.
