Noooo! Jeff Nichols' MIDNIGHT SPECIAL gets pushed back to 2016!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. 2015 was already a packed year, but it looks like it got a little too packed for Warner Bros as they have now moved one of my most anticipated movies of the year to Spring of 2016.

Jeff Nichols is a man on a roll. Take Shelter and Mud are two outstanding films. Both are deeply rooted dramas that dip into the mythic. Take Shelter does it a little more than Mud, but I adore this niche he's found for himself. His next movie is called Midnight Special and once again reunites him with Michael Shannon, who plays the concerned father of a young boy who possesses special powers. The kid is played by St. Vincent's Jaeden Lieberher and the cast also includes Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver, Sam Shepard and Joel Edgerton.

Yes, it sounds a little like Firestarter, but that only further drives it into my own personal fetish zone. I've been listing this one as one of my tops of 2015 for a long time and now I'll have to be a little patient since Warners has moved it out of the Fall, leaving a wide open Awards play for their other big Q4 film, CREED.

The film is currently slated for March 18th, 2016. I'll be doing my damndest to not throw a Veruca Salt about it...
